All the way from sunny LA, we’re pumped to have @_mast_ (aka Tim Conley) performing at this year’s #NYCWJF with his electronic & acoustic tribute to Thelonious Monk. MAST has been making waves in LA the past few years, since moving from Philly, for his infectious take on the rising #beatjazz aesthetic that is taking the city by storm in venues like @lowendtheory. MAST incorporates crushing beats, live guitar and keyboards to deliver an unforgettable experience. His cosmic reinterpretation of Monk’s music will make up his third LP, “Thelonious Sphere Monk”, which will drop a couple weeks after our festival on @alphapuprecords. He pays homage to Monk and his esteemed compositions while bringing them into the future using bleeps, bloops and beats together. His band features himself on electronics, guitar, keys; Dan Rosenboom (@daniel_rosenboom, trumpet); Mark Allen (soprano sax, bari sax); Jason Fraticelli (@jfrat8, upright bass); and Anwar Marshall (@anwarmarshall, drums). This will be a must-see event at the festival so be sure to catch it! (photo by @alexelena007 )⠀
